About us
Slovak Blind and Partially Sighted Union (UNSS) is a civic organisation established April 7th, 1990.
It pursues the objective to improve the quality of life of visually impaired Slovak people and to give partially sighted and blind citizens chance to live full-value life and participate in the development of an integrated society.
The Union accomplishes the following tasks:
It lays down
- needs and problems of blind and partially sighted people and promotes preventive measures to solve these problems
- it lays down comments and proposals in the area of social legislation
It develops
- a system of services aimed to overcome and mitigate the impact of sight damage or blindness
It provides the services of
- social rehabilitation
- counselling for families with impaired children
- helps with employment and retraining
- recreational reconditioning courses
- advocating for impaired people interests
- provides recommendation for applications for
subsidizing the purchase of access technology
- provides consultancy on removing architectonic barries
- organizing the training for guide dogs
It supports
- social activities
- exchange of experience
